Biography of Cesare Ricciardi
Cesare Ricciardi was born in Italy, in 1892. He came to the United States when he was still a young boy.
A painter of society portraits, as well as landscapes of Addingham, Bucks, Delaware and Chester counties, and the Philadelphia area, he lived most of life in Philadelphia. His travels to New England led to his moonlit harbors and dock scenes.
Ricciardi studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, where he received his most influential training under the instruction of Thomas Anshutz, Cecilia Beaux, and Hugh Brecke. He received several awards, including the Gold Medal.
He exhibited in many galleries throughout the country including the Corcoran Gallery, National Gallery, Academy of the Fine Arts, and the Chicago Art Institute.
Ricciardi taught in Philadelphia, until he died there in 1973.
