Joan Roig Soler is Spanish painter (Barcelona, 1852-1909). Trained at the School of Fine Arts at the Guildhall, where he was a pupil of Modesto Urgell, he moved to Paris and Rome to continue his studies. Was closely linked to Sitges, where he lived since 1881, and began there, along with Arcadi Mas i Fontdevila, Escola informal Luminist Catalan. Featured Landscape, also painted in Blanes, Tossa, Cadaqués, Moià, Camprodón, Barcelona, Mallorca, etc.. in a similar style to Impressionism to Modernism preceding Rusiñol and Ramon Casas, who contacted him through Sitges. Aside from Barcelona, it displayed in Madrid, Zaragoza, Paris, etc. His painting, characterized by a delicate technique, demonstrates the artist's penchant for the sea and cityscapes. Represented perfectly the beaches of Barcelona. He left an interesting book aimed carefully at the paintings he sold, its price and the person or entity that acquired manuscript preserved in the Library of Catalonia and published in the Bulletin of the Royal Academy Fine Arts of Sant Jordi.
